Developing intuition can be both a difficult and a challenging task – although it is not considered to be completely impossible – and this is as the concept of intuitiveness is not yet completely understood.
Several attempts have, to date, been made to define intuition, and, although no-one has, as yet, managed to fully understand exactly what intuition is or what acting intuitively involves, the simplest intuition definition must surely be Jung’s: “intuition (is) perception via the unconscious”.
Practical intuition involves knowing or recognizing something about a situation that, from the face of it, cannot be known or recognized. The security officer just “knowing” that the subject in the distance has a gun or the mother just “knowing” that her child in the next room is hurt are all examples of using intuition – and, in particular, mother’s intuition – in everyday situations.
Intuition – especially women’s intuition – has taken on an almost mystical quality in our society, and both developing your intuition and trusting your intuition are becoming increasingly popular.
Those people who are highly intuitive, furthermore, usually don’t know why they are able to automatically realize certain things and they are therefore often unable to help when it comes time to answer the “how to develop intuition” question.
There are, however, several schools of thought that say it is possible to develop your intuition – or even unlock your intuition – and these advocate developing intution through increasing self-awareness, focus and concentration.
Although most modern methods aimed at intuition development seem to have more in common with phenomena such as New Age religion, extra-sensory perception and the supernatural than with cold, hard science, any system that promotes intuition training designed to increase awareness – both of oneself and one’s surroundings – can’t be all wrong.
According to these methods, someone wanting to develop intuition should first determine how intuitive they actually are, and there are a number of easy and free online tests that, when completed, will place a person somewhere on the totally unintuitive through intuitive empath scale.
If, after taking the test, a person determines that they do indeed need help with the “how to develop your intuition” conundrum, there are a number of things they can do that are said to help increase both self-awareness and intuition.
One of the more popular ways of increasing intuition is through meditation, and special intuition meditation exercises have been developed that help one get in touch with one’s subconscious and that encourage one to ask one’s subconscious certain questions while in the meditative state.
Further ways of learning to develop and trust your intuition would involve things like reading motivational texts in the form of, among other things, inspirational poetry, online self-awareness articles and sacred texts.
Given the above, there is no reason why developing intuition, which has, incidentally, long been regarded as a talent at which only women can excel – ever heard of a woman’s intuition? – shouldn’t be seen as both positive and desirable.
Taking a look on the Internet to see what people are thinking about really brings up some scary sorts of images:
Supposedly these are peoples’ attempts at brainstorming. There are a lot of thoughts there, and perhaps there may even be some good useful thoughts – but it will take a long time to make any sense of that lot.
Obviously their left brains are really firing on all cylinders. Now let’s say you add in some “gut-feelings” to the mix with a little right brain input; then what exactly are these people going to do?
Some people may go through this on a daily basis – walking around with hundreds of seemingly random thoughts bombarding their brains and no real way to make any sense of it all. This is one end of the spectrum.
At the other end of the scale you have people trying to figure out and interpret their gut-feel or the hunch they just received, or maybe that “bad feeling” about something.
All of this info can be very valuable, but without having a reasonable method for efficiently utilizing it, what’s the point?
This is why it is crucial to re-train your brain so that you have ways to experience large volumes of input, utilize it, store it, and be able to recall it at will any time in the future.
At the same time, we need to be able to react to those hunches as this could be a life saver. When you are threatened and need to think on your feet, you need every resource available. You need to be able to rely on your gut-feelings in times of emergency and in normal times with just the day-to-day things that come up.
If you are about to partner up with a new individual and you get that “bad feeling”, then your gut is trying to tell you this may not be the best situation for you. This could save you valuable time, money, and headaches.
Once you have all sides working together, i.e. both left brain and right brain, you will finally experience brain-hemisphere synchronization – you’ll be unstoppable. Your brain will work the way it is meant to work. You will get so much more done each day that you might find you’re able to complete ALL of your scheduled tasks and now for once you actually have some free time to do whatever you want. Isn’t that the way it should be?
Look folks the subject of intuition in general is indeed large, because there is science there, just from the fact that many hormones are produced each day when we are in various situations, stress, uncertainty, fear, sadness, happiness, anger, etc. We need to have a way to cut through it all to get to the info we need.
You’ve heard that voice in the back of your head trying to warn you about something; did you listen or just ignore it and let chance blow in the wind?
If you want to be successful in all of your endeavors you need an edge. Times are tough and the competition is getting stronger. What will you do to ensure your financial future?
